Austin has spent the past 20+ years running and buying software companies. He started his career at Alex Brown doing software IPOs and M&A, then worked for Harbinger Corp, an acquisitive e-commerce software client he had taken public at Alex Brown. After Harbinger, Austin sold software for IBM, then transitioned to venture capital and private equity where he spent six years as a deal principal and built origination teams and systems at Advanced Technology Ventures and H.I.G. Capital, respectively.
Austin left private equity to run a software company owned by a family office in 2011, then transitioned to acquiring companies for the same group in 2012. Austin founded Razorhorse that year to source the deals he executed for the family office. In 2017, Austin founded PowerUP Scholarship fund to help disadvantaged kids find a path to success. In 2019, Austin founded a buy and hold investment vehicle called Arcas. Arcas is a client of Razorhorse. Austin holds a BA from Brown University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
